Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Large bowl
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Meat thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken 90/10 or 93/7
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare and Season: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, olive oil, and all the seasonings. Use your hands to mix everything together until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Do not overmix.
  • Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • Arrange in Basket: Crumble the seasoned ground chicken into the preheated air fryer basket, spreading it out into a single, even layer.
  • Initial Cook: Air fry for 5-7 minutes to begin cooking and browning the chicken.
  • Break Up and Continue Cooking: After the initial cook, remove the basket and use a spatula or wooden spoon to break up any large clumps of chicken. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 5-8 minutes, or until fully cooked.
  • Check Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the ground chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Notes

  • Browning is Key: To get the best texture, remember to break up the chicken midway through cooking to expose more surface area to the hot air.
  • Overcrowding: Do not pile the ground chicken too high, as this will cause it to steam instead of brown.
